This song is a prime example of a musician who started in the garage as a drummer who morphed into a rock star and became one of the great frontmen of all-time (while unknowingly defined a generation) whom in turn became a songwriting genius. With all tributes I’ve been part of I always hope that the listener gets that there’s a love and appreciation for the original song but also that some careful chances will be taken to bring something new to the table offering an alternate reality to the song.
