Stormy Mundy Selection (Occasional Series - Acts of Random Archive Rummaging)

Alex Mundy has been busy crossing the Crimson time streams once more and has come up with an intriguing hybrid that combines the Double Trio Crimso with the Lizard sessions.
During the months leading up to the making of THRAK in the mid-90s, Fripp presented the team with a five-chord sequence that consciously explored the cut-and-thrust minor thirds of Cirkus, the opening track from the 1970 album, Lizard.
The result was Dinosaur, and in merging elements of that track with see-sawing Mellotron brass chords of Cirkus, and much else besides, a new beast has emerged.
Both striking and slightly unsettling in places, especially when Gordon Haskell’s vocals rise from behind the whirling maelstrom of Mellotrons and organ, the whole piece is akin to a trippy, phantasmagorical fever dream. All the fun of the Circus, indeed.
