Because musical parts circulated back and forth between players during a King Crimson concert, it was easy to lose track of who was doing what. Perhaps mindful of this fact, Alex Mundy has revisited the multitracks and isolated the drum parts for Breathless.
A regular feature at Stick Men gigs, Pat Mastelotto and Tony Levin were well familiar with the piece, which originally featured Fripp, Levin, and ex-Weather Report drummer Michael Walden. Though brand new to the composition, Jeremy Stacey and Gavin Harrison imbue the parts with their customary prowess and power.
In this exclusive mix, we can hear Jeremy Stacey begin the proceedings, closely followed by Gavin Harrison and then Pat Mastelotto bringing up the end of the phrase. You can just about follow Gavin on the right, Jeremy in the middle, and Pat over on the left in the stereo picture as they exchange parts in a flurry of sticks, cymbals, and skins.
