Mercedes Jones was the coolest kid in Vidsville. He had the flyest clothes, the sickest dance moves, and the most amazing voice. But Mercedes knew that being cool wasn't just about being stylish or talented. It was also about being kind.
"Kindness is cool," Mercedes would say. "If you are kind to another, you are one cool brother. You better believe that and whatnot, awe yeah."
Mercedes loved helping other people. He would always lend a helping hand to his friends, neighbors, and even strangers. He would volunteer at the local soup kitchen, help out at the animal shelter, and mentor younger kids.
One day, Mercedes was walking down the street when he saw a little girl crying. She had dropped her ice cream cone and it had melted all over her hands.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Mercedes asked.
The little girl sniffled. "I dropped my ice cream cone and it's all gone," she said.
Mercedes smiled. "Don't worry," he said. "I'll buy you another one."
Mercedes took the little girl to the ice cream shop and bought her a new cone. The little girl was so happy. She thanked Mercedes over and over again.
"You're welcome," Mercedes said. "Kindness is cool and whatnot."
Mercedes continued on his way, feeling good about himself. He knew that he had made a difference in the little girl's day.
Another day, Mercedes was at the park when he saw a group of kids picking on a smaller kid. Mercedes walked over to the group and stood up to them.
"Leave him alone," Mercedes said. "It's not cool to pick on someone who is smaller than you and whatnot."
The bullies were surprised that Mercedes had stood up to them. They backed down and walked away.
The smaller kid thanked Mercedes for helping him.
"No problem," Mercedes said. "Kindness is cool, awe yeah."
