Officer Kim Potter was sentenced today in the shooting death of Duante Wright. Officer Potter thought she was using her tazer, yea, ok.
“I’m not doing nothing,” Duante Wright said. He eventually yanked away, getting back into the driver’s seat. A struggle ensued.
“I’ll tase ya!” Potter said, pulling out what turned out to be her gun. She repeated her warning, then finally yelled, “Taser, taser, taser!”
She opened fire, striking Wright, who then drove away.
“Holy sh*t!” Potter said. “I just shot him.”
Wright later crashed into another vehicle, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Potter resigned.
