I just want to say, this wouldn't be quicker in the any% and it wouldn't currently save any items in low%, it's just a really neat glitch and it means there's one less 'necessary item' in the game.
This requires the goron mask, and stick, and some fancy shenanigans with 0th day.
The first clip I show is how to get a bottle over sticks in the equipment screen, yet have sticks on your C button. This is useful as it means that we can still use the sticks but they won't go away when we play song of time.
The concept is: (Have mayor's warp) have a bottle over sticks, use SoT, pick up sticks quickly to put them back in your items screen, pause, equip the sticks just before the 0th day effect restores the bottle back on your stick slot again.
The problem with this is that it's very difficult to get rid of the SoT text quickly after selecting 'yes', it tends to hang around which means you can't pause.
Fortunately, Timestop at a gossip stone cancels the text instantly, and then cancelling out of the timestop and pausing gives just enough time to equip sticks before the bottle gets put back in your items screen.
As you can see, I had to do something very silly to get a stick drop to be next to a gossip stone, this was the only way I could think of.
Anyway, once you get bottle over sticks but you have sticks on C, they don't go away when you play song of time and you can still use them. This means we can do Keeta's goron actionswap trick to melt Goht's ice with a lit arrow.
Keeta himself listed this as one of the potential future solutions to the puzzle of beating Goht without fire arrows, however he hadn't found any way of being able to get sticks on C and a bottle in the item screen, So I decided to mess with it and came up with this. Teamwork!
