Kikuo Ibe developed G-SHOCK in response to an incident involving an expensive pocket watch passed to him by his father.

One day he was out for a walk and dropped it. The traditional jewellery style watch was broken into many pieces, which took him a lot of explaining.

As a result, he began a long, tough journey over many years, developing a watch that would not break when dropped. A gravity shock resistant watch - A G-SHOCK!
