On July 3rd of last year, a man was attempting to walk his dog on Carmel beach, when he was violently assaulted and kidnapped by 3 officers from the Carmel Police Department: Joe Boucher, Corporal Bruno and Detective Jacob Clifford. 5 minutes later, after the man was forced to get into their car while soaking wet and barefoot, Carmel police made their way down to where I was, to also assault and kidnap a peaceful woman - for standing on a public beach. I was searched repeatedly, my property stolen, and then dragged handcuffed to the jail in Salinas, and released at 3:00 in the morning, 30 miles away from home. I was charged with "Entering a Disaster Area."
On February 26th, 2021 I returned to the Carmel Police Department to retrieve the bodycam footage from this arrest, when the same officer, J. Boucher with Officer G. Maldonado, slammed me to the ground, threw cuffs on, and once again, deprived me of my liberty without due process of law - for 24 hours. We have a duty to become aware of what our rights are, and what MUST happen in order for an arrest to be considered lawful.
