La Calice Cup 10 entry. Special rule: one loop only. Yes, it can be that long and potentially even longer.
It's a top-down labyrinth game where you collect the chests and then key appears near you which allows you to open the door. You must do it in three minutes. Timer resets when you lose a life. The whole stage scrolls before it starts so you can see where is the door and I recommend to memorize it using this feature.
Press button 1 to dig a hole and press it again to fill a hole. Enemies fall into a hole and filling that hole gives you certain bonus points (increases when you kill the same type of enemy and resets for the different type) plus 1000 points as a end stage bonus. You will not get 1000 points bonus if you kill enemies some other way. So just burying as many enemies as possible is the most consistent way to score. Crosses appear in places where you bury your enemies and you can't dig in those places anymore. Also if you fall into a hole you lose a life.
Press button 2 to open the door. You can stay one tile before the door and still open it. It's very important because doors actually rotate and can stay in your way but opening them in distance allows you to pass through. Also some doors will kick you into the water if you don't open them in distance. You can also freely fall into the water so be careful. Touching water will also costs you a life.
There are two powerups which appear in boxes with "P". First powerup is a shovel which allows to dig multiple holes in a row. With each power level you can dig 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 holes in a row. Second powerup is a boots which speeds up your movement. Both powerups are important and you lose all of them after dying. Boots are more rare so dying in a wrong stage can potentially costs more lifes because of the time limit.
Boxes with "?" contain a weapon. If you kill some enemies in a row using a weapon, you get more points - 400, 800, 1600 and then 3200. It's really hard to do multikills so mostly weapons are not for points but for surviving a tough stage. Yo-yo doesn't have a hitbox on a cable but you can cancel animation by turning. Flamethrower still fires if you turn and this way you can earn some multikills. And there is another weapon which turns enemies into crystals. Pushing crystal into another crystals is another way to chain kills and get more points.
Sometimes buried enemies can give a special item, each lasts for 16 seconds.
- Red ball. Every enemy doesn't move and you can go through them
- Helmet. You can go through enemies
- Blue crystal. Every enemy turns into a crystal
- Clock. Every enemy moves much slower
- Dynamite. It's basically a bomb from Bomberman which explodes in a few seconds and kills enemies. You can also die from bomb so be careful. Use button 2 to place a bomb and that means you also place a bomb when you need to open the door
Most enemies are the same but there are some enemies which can be killed only with flamethrower, yo-yo and dynamite because they're just doesn't fall into holes. I recommend to kill them so you will not lose some time by waiting them.
Stage 32 is the last stage and the only one with boss. Objective is kinda the same - just collect all chests but this time you have to avoid a lot of enemies while boss also tries to shoot you. Just make sure you have some spare lives.
