'I'm on the pursuit of happiness, and I know
Everything that shine ain't always gonna be gold, hey
I'll be fine once I get it
I'll be good'

Story time. Back in 2010, I was wrapping up my degree in music education. My plan was to become a high school music teacher. Suffice to say that plan went out the door. The closer I got to the finish line, the further I saw myself from wanting to teach. I felt lost. I was young, a bit naive and I just couldn't shake the feeling that I can be making a greater contribution to society than just settling down. A close friend reached out. He saw my potential and tried to convince me to jump on YouTube. Not thinking much of it, I went ahead and started the channel. Back then @KidCudi's song, 'Pursuit of Happiness' struck me so hard that I had it on loop for months and months. I decided then, that this song should be the FIRST song I'd cover on my channel. The idea of pursing a new journey, a calling or whatever you wanna call it, may sound scary at first because you don't know where it will go. But if it MAKES YOU HAPPY, THEN DO IT. Which I did. I had many doubts choosing this path but that's what made this journey so beautiful and organic. I never forced anything. I just took it day by day, day 'n' nite (hehe), one step at a time. And I am proud to say after 5 years of hard work, I was able to make it a full time career.
10 years later, Kid's Cudi's production team reached out and asked if they could use a quick snippet of my Pursuit of Happiness cover for his upcoming documentary, "A Man Named Scott". I remember feeling so hyped and energized. I didn't know what to make of it. It was a sign. The path I chose 10 years ago has come full circle 10 years later. Thank you Kid Cudi for inspiring me when I felt hopeless and lost that one year. I hope we will cross paths one day so I can thank you in person.
