Kichler Pinion 60" ceiling fan in anvil iron. There have been a few killer clearance deals on Kichler fans floating around online lately, which really takes me back to my roots with the brand because that's how I got my first few Kichler fans, and really started loving the brand. These days I really don't go looking for much new stuff as I bring in enough new products that the brands provide, but this is one I had to grab for the novelty of it. It's one of those that I think will maintain some notoriety and be remembered. This model was initially high on the contender list for a Product Spotlight the year it was released, however I ultimately felt that there were a lot of missed opportunities to make it really shine (literally, there should've been lighting!) so I let it pass, because the novelty is pretty good but nothing else really spoke to me. Truly, I wish they'd done some integrated LED in the bottom to light the gears, or at least offered some sort of minimal light kit that could go on the bottom to shine up at them. That would've elevated this entire fan to the elite top tiers of legendary design, instead it falls a little flat for me. I also wish there was greater integration of the gears with the operation of the speeds, or even independent control. Obviously all of that would take some advanced control systems, which Kichler unfortunately hasn't ever been great at, so that was kind of a nonstarter from the jump. I'm also not entirely impressed with the execution of the clear lens. Leaves kind of a wide gap that I think would collect dust quickly, and feels kind of cheap in comparison to the rest of the components. My design complaints aside, it's a solid fan. Pretty heavy with that large central blade hub, and I'm actually impressed with the performance based on that weight of the hub being paired with a 172mm motor and 16° pitch. Gets up to good speed and does well over 6,000 CFM. Also impressed with how quiet this one is, I tend to complain about motor hum from AC Kichler models, but this one isn't anywhere near bad. Definitely not here just to rag on this one, per usual with Kichler it's a nicely-built unit, but I did want to air my grievances because this could've been an icon of design, but instead it's pretty quickly discontinued and never truly got to stand out.
