In a world of infinite to-do lists and finite resources, how do we, as software engineers, ensure we’re driving meaningful progress rather than just staying busy? This keynote will explore how the Ceph community can be more deliberate, strategic, and impactful in how we invest our time, energy, and funding.
We'll begin by examining how we allocate community time — prioritizing initiatives that yield the greatest project-wide benefit and fostering a culture that values high-leverage collaboration. Then, we’ll shift our focus to developer time — questioning how we balance fixing bugs versus building new features. We'll ask: Who are we building for? Is this the highest-value work we can do? Finally, we’ll consider financial resources — discussing how we can make smart, transparent investments that deliver strong returns in terms of sustainability, stability, and growth.
Throughout our presentation, we’ll tie these three threads together using the lens of KPIs and impact measurement to ensure that our decisions align with the community’s shared long-term vision. Our goal: building a Ceph Community that is more productive than busy.
