This brief video was taken this morning while an engineer was going over one of the mold assembly again.
So we took the opportunity to record his screen.
The video is slightly accelerated
What you see:
► The big YELLOW tubular pathways are called "Runners"
► While the smaller yellow ones are "Sub-runners"
► Melted plastic flows from these runners to fill the "Cavities" that forms the keycaps.
► Plastic fill the cavities going through "Gates".
Almost all molds in plastic injection industry are quite complex like that so what you're seeing is common in fact.
Designing mold assembly and plastic injection is the most important and critic step for a successAnd these have to be precise as to produce the best keycaps we need.
