Welcome back to Sporting Focus. The LIV Golf rumour mill shows no signs of slowing down and the latest player linked with a move away from the PGA Tour is none other than Si Woo Kim. According to Handicap54, the 27-year-old South Korean is being targeted by the tour commissioned by Greg Norman. Though it's fair to say that at this point it's hard to think of a player who hasn't been approached. Very clearly, there is an awful lot of conjecture with regards to potential signings.
Schauffele reportedly is still 50/50 over his decision. The New York Post claimed on 10 November that Schauffele was staying put despite reports suggesting his deal was signed and sealed. The LIV Golf League will play 14 events in 2023, with total prize money reaching a whopping $405m. Just this week it was confirmed that The Grange Country Club in Adelaide will host one of LIV's $25m events next April. The aforementioned Norman said he could not have achieved this without the help of Cameron Smith. Smith, the 150th Open Champion, has also made another impassioned plea for LIV Golf players not to be banned from the majors in 2023. In related news, You might have missed this, but there was a not-so-subtle dig by the PGA Tour towards LIV Golf's Phil Mickelson on Monday. In case you haven't heard, the PGA Tour have taken further steps to try and keep the stars of the future from joining the LIV Golf League by announcing that college golfers can earn cards before turning pro. This news was confirmed after a meeting of the PGA Tour's Policy Board before the RSM Classic. There are now two new methods college golfers can earn their Tour cards through merit-based performance. The first is that the top player in the PGA Tour University Velocity Global gets a full PGA Tour membership at the end of the college season in June. This will go into effect next year. According to a memo released by the PGA Tour, officials believe this No. 1 player will be eligible to compete in 14 events in their debut season. They will also have access to the Earnings Assurance Program, guaranteeing $500,000 to help with expenses.
