Kevin J. Hart was Professor of Philosophy and Literature at Notre Dame from 2002 to 2007, then Edwin B. Kyle Professor of Christian Studies at the University of Virginia, a position he holds as of 2014.
Hart has received multiple awards for his poetry. Harold Bloom called him the "most outstanding Australian poet of his generation", and one of "the major living poets in the English language". Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Simic called him “one of the finest poets writing in English today.” Mark Strand (Poet Laureate and former professor of Comparative Literature at Columbia) praised him as “the best Australian poet of the past 25 years.”
