Album – “Ketil Bjørnstad – Early Piano Music” [Prelude 1 to 21 and Pianology 1 to 8], 2011, released on 08 Apr 2011. Preludes was recorded at Rainbow and Rosenborg Studios, Oslo, on Steinway Grand. Previously released on LP as "Preludes Vol. 1" (1984) and "Preludes Vol. 2" (1985) by Uniton Records. Re-released on CD, as "Preludes", on Hermitage / September (1993).

___ Ketil Bjørnstad is a Norwegian pianist, composer and author, born April 25, 1952 in Oslo. Initially Ketil was trained as a classical pianist and studied with Amalie Christie and Robert Riefling, and also in London and Paris. He showed great talent at a young age, and won the title of "Youth Piano Master" in 1966 and 1968. When he was 16, he made his debut as a concert pianist with Béla Bartók's third piano concerto. Bjørnstad subsequently turned towards jazz and rock, in close cooperation with the guitarist Terje Rypdal, bassist Arild Andersen, drummer Jon Christensen and the American cellist David Darling.
___ I seek to create and share simple, beautiful images which communicate the natural rhythms and innate energies of chosen subjects. I find photographing dance very apt for expressing natural rhythmic movement. My work celebrates especially the pure sculpture, power, and physicality of women dancers. Some of my images are created using slow camera shutter speeds to capture a lengthened moment in time. Others incorporate ‘light painting’ techniques I have developed, where the dancer is static in a completely dark studio, but imagining herself moving, suspended in time and space. My objective is to give my photographs a soft, sensual impressionist feeling, resembling either watercolor paintings or charcoal drawings.
