Hey everyone, I just had my 20th Birthday this Wednesday (October 11th). I originally had two songs planned for this date, and planned on creating a “Hatachi Mini EP”, but I didn’t have enough time to finish two. Instead, I just named this Jazz Hop/Chill Hop/Lofi song “Hatachi”.

Hatachi means “20 years old” in Japanese. This is when you’re officially recognized as an adult in Japan.

I hope you enjoy the song as I put in a lot of thought into the structure and layout of the song. I’m sure you all know that a lot of the things we do everyday are just things we’ve always done, whether it’s a habit or because we have to such as eating, etc. During the break sections of the song, I put in different sounds that reflect on these repetitions. Door knocks, phone buzzing whether from a call or an alarm, getting a haircut or just using scissors in general, a cup rolling around, the sound of stapling papers, turning a lamplight on and off, fumbling with your keys before opening the door, and the home phone ringing. These things happen, but we probably don’t give them too much thought.

I wanted to have a slow song (this one) and a fast one for the Mini EP, but the faster song will have to come at the end of this month, when I’ll have produced for a year. Look forward in 2-3 weeks give or take!
