I recently produced the short film ‘KERNOW’ for Panasonic LUMIX & Atomos, for the up coming release of new firmware that brings ProRes RAW to the LUMIX BGH1 & Ninja V. Here’s a short Behind The Scenes film, featuring some BTS footage from the shoot, as well as my general thoughts on working with ProRes RAW, the BGH1 and Ninja V. When LUMIX & Atomos got in touch to discuss the production of a short film, I decided to take the kit to my home county of Cornwall, UK, to put it through its paces. The perfect place to throw some challenging shooting environments at it and also come up with some nice cinematic imagery to show what the set up can do. I now have a new favourite run and gun set up!

Monitor/Recorder - Atomos Ninja V
SSD: Angelbird Atom X
Lenses used: Panasonic Leica 10-25mm f/1.7, Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8 II, Panasonic Lumix 35-100mm f/2.8 II
Rigging: SmallRig
Filters: Tiffen Black Pro Mist & Variable ND
Gimbal: DJI Ronin S
All footage shot in ProRes RAW, 12 bit VLogL, 24p & 60p
ProRes RAW post-production workflow used standard RAW to VLog conversion and then graded as per my normal workflow, for SDR.
Edited and colour graded in Final Cut Pro X using a custom LUT & finished with FilmConvert. Colour grading video coming soon.
