On 29 April 2020, astronomers discovered a planet 3 times the mass of Jupiter in a distant planetary system, named Kepler-88. This system is located at 1240 light-years away from earth in the constellation Lyra.

The system consists a sun like star named Kepler-88 and 3 planets, named Kepler-88b, Kepler-88c and Kepler-88d.

Kepler-88b is a sub-Neptune sized planet and was discovered in 2012. It orbits the star in just 11 days. While Kepler-88c is a Jupiter sized planet and was discovered in 2013.

It orbits the star in 22 days. Now, Kepler-88d which was discovered recently, has a mass 3 times the mass of Jupiter, making it the most massive planet in Kepler-88 system.

It orbits its star every 4 years, and its orbit is not circular, but elliptical.
