Nestled in the heart of Louisville Kentucky, this family amusement park has gone through many dramatic changes throughout the years. The park has only been in operation since 1987, with 4 of those years being closed after the Six Flags shuffle. Attractions have come and gone, including 7 different roller coasters.

Back in its Six Flags era, which spanned a timeframe of 11 years, the park had a heavy focus on thrill machines. Once Ed Hart, the original founder of this property, repurchased Kentucky Kingdom from Six Flags, he brought some new life into this dilapidated property. Well, since then Herschend stepped in and once again, changed the dynamic and overall focus of the park. Kentucky Kingdom is now very much geared towards the entire family, and I couldn’t agree more with this direction.
