Kenny Wayne Shepherd sat down with Australian Musician’s Greg Phillips to discuss his long-awaited return to Australia, marking the 30th anniversary of his debut album Ledbetter Heights and a tour that reflects both his deep blues roots and his evolution as a musician.
Shepherd spoke enthusiastically about rehearsals for the tour, which have been taking place in his newly built studio. The anniversary shows bring together past and present members of his band, including the return of drummer Sam Bryant for the early part of the tour, reconnecting Shepherd with musicians who were there at the very beginning of his career. Longtime collaborator Chris Layton will rejoin the band after his commitments with Billy Gibbons.
