Ken Griffin Buys the Block. Miami Sells Its Soul.
How can one Man have so much Power?
Its called Money.
City of Miami sold Ken Griffin the last piece of his Brickell block: A 121-year-old cottage the original office of Dr. James Jackson, Miami's first doctor and the namesake of Jackson Memorial. The price was $2.98 million, backed by an independent appraisal, and the commissioners' vote was unanimous. The cottage won't be demolished. Griffin is paying to move it to Coconut Grove and preserve it there.
On September 1 in front of the city's Preservation board. You can speak there but the public doesn't get a vote.
