Of all the players in a given card set, Griffey was always the highest in demand, fetching the loftiest prices in comparison to everyone else. Griffey transcended the hobby, becoming relevant in pop culture through video games, TV commercials, comics, and even an election campaign (Griffey in ‘96!). The guy was synonymous with “cool” with his trademark backwards hat, bubble gum, and his sweet, effortless home run swing.
