A 1980 time capsule! This upload recreates a cereal-packed commercial break with Kellogg’s sponsor slates bookending seven classic spots.
Segment order:
1. Opening Sponsor Slate — Static card: Kellogg’s logo (top-right), sun (top-left), mascots roll-call: Toucan Sam, elephant, Snap/Crackle/Pop, Tony & Jr., Dig’em Frog. VO: “Portions of this program are sponsored by Kellogg’s.”
2. Kellogg’s Rice Krispies — “Charlie the Play Star” — A boy with only three lines in his school play gets a pep talk from Snap, Crackle & Pop: three words can be powerful. He’s ready to shine—“like a Pop star!”.
3. Kellogg’s Apple Jacks — “A is for Apple, J is for Jacks” — 🎶 A is for Apple, J is for Jacks—cinnamon-toasty Apple Jacks! 🎶 Kids sing, dance, and tout a “great breakfast” with 10 essential vitamins & minerals. (1980)
4. Kellogg’s Frosted Rice — Tony & Jr. on the “Tiger II” — Boat day! Jr. picks Frosted Rice (“real nice!”), not Flakes. “Anchors away!”—Tony panics, “Anchor?!”—then a jaunty jingle and smooth sailing.
5. Kellogg’s (Sugar) Corn Pops — Poppy the Porcupine at the Animal Airport — Geese worry about flying south; Poppy calms the flock with Sugar Corn Pops (aka Corn Pops): sweet, fortified with 10 vitamins & minerals, “a great breakfast”… “They’re so good they give me goosebumps!”
6. NBC Saturday Morning Promo — Fred Flintstone — Fred invites everyone to NBC’s new season of cartoons (Hanna-Barbera pals + Looney Tunes bits) — classic network hype from Fall 1980.
7. Kellogg’s Sugar Smacks — “Hoppy Birthday!” — “Up-and-at ’em, birthday girl!” She turns 7, Dig’em Frog chants “Smack, smack, Sugar Smacks!” (high-five cheer), “part of a complete breakfast,” bungles “Happy Birthday” on piano; Grandpa asks, “What do you call that?” Dig’em: “Hoppy birthday!” You’ll dig ’em.
