The Kekekabic Trail is a rugged 39 mile trail located in the heart of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA). It is the most remote trail I have hiked. There are no nearby roads or access points in between the trailheads at either end. Due to it's remote location and the fact that it is a 3.5 hour drive between trailheads, there are very few hikers on the trail. The trail has numerous campsites located on beautiful undisturbed lakes, breathtaking overlooks, and wildlife that includes bears, moose, wolves, beavers, and grouse (lots of grouse!).
I solo hike the trail in 2.5 days in late October and have a great time.
