The Minnesota Inventors Congress hosted an all day event in which inventors and entrepreneurs pitched their dream ideas to the marketers at "As Seen on TV", or TeleBrands.
Inventors were given 5 minutes to impress a panel of judges. The judges were in the Twin Cities scouting for the next big consumer product to be showcased on a future "As Seen On TV" infomercial.
Of the hundreds that applied, about two dozen got the opportunity to pitch their ideas. The Small Business Administration estimates at least half of all small businesses fail. It means failure is part of the game.
Economists say most small businesses fail due to lack of cash, accounting, and marketing.
The "As Seen On TV" judges were looking for products that solve a common problem.
They were impressed with several Twin Cities inventors. After additional market research, judges will determine whether to partner with the inventors.
