It is an immemorial custom for people to make resolutions for the new year. It is equally customary that these resolutions are not kept. Too often, we try to have everything at once, such as resolving to give up all of our bad habits. We would do better to make specific resolutions that, by God's grace, are achievable throughout the year. In this way, we may grow in virtue without succumbing to discouragement when we fall short.
