Part 4 of 7 of Our Blue Planet: Will it Survive till Tomorrow? By Japan Classic Live for the U.N. This is a non-profit organization with funding support from government and private foundations. Japan Classic has performed with an environmental message throughout Japan, Asia and Europe as well, and in 2008, they performed in cooperation with the G-8 Tokkai Summit for the past ten years.
Over 50 members perform a blend of traditional Japanese, classical and western music and dance. Serious environmental messages are interspersed with elaborate song and dance numbers. The performance is in three acts. The year is 2100, and Act I is set against a background of changing images of the planet earth, climate change, global warming, melting of polar ice, hurricanes, earthquakes, and atomic bomb blasts.Looking back in time, the musical asks where humanity went wrong. Act II recollects a United Nations setting in 2009,where lively debate among world leaders over what each country should do to halt global warming and carbon emissions. Act III presents the message that all countries must come together and act now to prevent the disasters that will have happen in the year 2100 if there is further delay. Keepin It Green filmed the show and a copy was given to the Prime Minister of Japan and was also used to create a one hour special for broadcast on public access LTC channel 20.
