Karyn Mota is a Ph.D. Candidate in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies and holds a master's in Africana Studies through the Open Graduate Education Program. Her talk investigates Afro-Latin American and Caribbean literature enacting symbolic reparations for the legacy of slavery and its present-day reverberations, such as structural and systemic racism.
