Beautiful strings and song with a strong vocal. Did not chart nationally in Billboard, but it did chart locally in the Top 10 in Worcester, Massachusetts in June 1961 and in the Top 30 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. "Summer Day" showcases the first string arrangement by Jack Nitzsche. On my other posting of this record, Kari Lynn wrote a comment a year ago which provided some more information about herself:
"Hi! I'm Kari Lynn. I'm 66 now. Recorded from age 13 to 15. Did 12 songs but only 10 were stamped on 5 records. Got married at 16, stayed married until he died in January, almost 50 years. Had 5 children, 10 grand children. Became an ICU nurse, sang to my patients and their families to cheer them up or on holidays when they were in the hospital. Recently posted album of the 10 songs on ITunes. Type in Kari Lynn in the search box. There's more than one Kari Lynn now, My songs have my picture at age 13 in front of them. Called 'Summer Day 61-63'. Hope you enjoy!"
