On Sunday, May 24, Kanen set a new WFDF Under 16 Boys Wheelchair Distance World Record at Rundle College in Calgary.

I first met Kanen in November 2025, and from that moment, we began working toward this record attempt together. What started as a goal to throw a frisbee farther than anyone in his category had ever thrown became something much bigger.

Kanen chose the slogan “Level Up” for this event, and that is exactly what he did.

Surrounded by family, friends, classmates, teachers, and community supporters, Kanen stepped into a big moment and showed what courage, determination, and support can make possible.

In his interview, Kanen shares that he wanted to do this to show that people with disabilities can do great things.

This was more than a world record.

It was a celebration of possibility.
