I've wanted to edit both separately, but with this song, I wanted to work with smaller moments and parallels, and I felt that there weren't enough moments like I had imagined for a full-length edit so I've decided to put them together. I like working with microscopic moments, and Kaz and Inej only had a few, especially with Aleksander and Alina. The rest of their scenes were mostly heavy with dialogue. I wanted to avoid dialogue altogether.
I am not necessarily paralleling these two to show how they are alike. Both couples are vastly different, but they do have similarities. Similarities such as how Kaz is associated with the crow and Alina is associated with the stag. How Inej is the Wraith, always lurking in the shadows, while the Darkling is a shadow summoner, calling upon the shadows. There's a dark undertone with both couples that makes them slightly eerie, and I find it the most intriguing.
