Some of the most exciting new dance music around is coming out of Baltimore, and Kade Young is at the heart of a wave of young artists twisting Baltimore Club into new shapes in 2026.
Together with close friends S.DOT, CalvoMusic and JIALING – who he operates the already-crucial WOE label with – Kade is right at the heart of Baltimore’s new generation of Club artists, both through his label, events, workshops (geared towards mentoring queer, femme and trans artists in the city), and a steady stream of releases – both self-released and through Night Slugs. The last year especially has seen people pick up on Kade outside of his hometown: he recently toured the UK for the first time, and his tracks have appeared in sets by Bored Lord, Pearson Sound, Bicep, Anna Lunoe and The Large.
Built across the last year, ‘Gravity’ is a perfect introduction to the sound world that Kade has been honing for a while now: minimal, sub-heavy and often romantic. Written in the same situation that he always writes his music, at home in the afterglow of a night out, inspired by both the tracks he’s absorbed and conversations with his peers, this is patient music that understands the power of space and silence – though don’t get us wrong, every track on here is fine-tuned for the dancefloor.
