WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO AND WHY I'VE BEEN MIA!Thank you so much for those who have stuck around, I know it's been two and a half months since I uploaded 😨 Part of that has been some serious revamping of my living space, and moving of furniture, building of furniture and melting (like a good witch does, oh wait, is it the bad witches that melt 🤪) in the steady months of heat alerts here in Toronto. Since JUNE this year!You will notice that it looks like someone punched me in my eyes, they are so dark with circles, that's actually due to an average of 2 hours sleep a night, over the past month and a half. So please be kind! Here's why!Sadly, the heat advisories actually began in June, and that's when we discovered the AC in the house was not working. So on average my room has been 31 degrees plus a humidex putting the living in temp between 36-40c every freakin day for over two months. I'm a pitta. I don't do summers ( I actually do get SAD and several chronic illnesses flare up in the heat. lol. So this has been really affecting my health as well. Okay, ramble over! lol.Deep breath, oddly sharing all of this is just another way of procrastinating posting this video, but... it's time. Over the course of my Equinox workings I took the time to record some footage to share my day with you, and this is one of those moments! Because there was hope that the world would begin to open up again, and I could start job hunting (on the day I was editing this video we actually just got put into another lockdown in Toronto, but I know it's for the best), I need to start addressing a more practical morning ritual. This ritual is less than 5 minutes and requires very little other than:A hot oil burner and the tealight and oils you would use for ritual intentions.A dish and some edible representation of manifestation, such as seeds, nuts, microgreens. If like me, you also make offerings to the spirits of land/aka the birds and animals you can make sure it's safe for them as well!I definitely do what I refer to as long haul rituals, I have one in progress now, which is part of how I make plant spirit medicine, but I know it's important to adjust with your life as well. This ritual is quick, easy but powerful and I hope you find some inspiration in the outline. Guided Meditation | Spring Spirit Guides Kayla Alyssa 2021-03-31 | #guidedmeditation #shamanicjourney #spiritguidesMany blessings my wayward souls!at the turn of the solar seasons, marked by the Equinoxes and Solstices, I do a guided meditation, which I wrote, to find the plant medicine, animal spirits, and crystal healers who wish to work with me during the season. It is one of my favorites, and I am so excited share it with you all. There are different way you can approach the meditation! You can simply close your eyes and listen and allow the plant, animal and crystal spirits to journey to you through the liminal space that meditations create. But I know not everyone finds this approach easy, so here are some other ways to work with this meditation.Oracle Decks: If you have oracle decks that show plant, animal and/or crystals you can shuffle the deck(s) and lay them in front of you before you begin the mediation. At the point in the meditation where you 'encounter' the specific guide, pull one of the guards.Bowl or Bag and charms/tokens/notes: Another approach is to place several of your crystals in a bag and pull one at the appropriate part of the meditation. If you have a herbal cabinet, or spices in your kitchen, you can write down the names on strips of paper, fold them up and place them in a bowl, and pull one to work with. For animal guides, you can do the same. I do recommend writing down animals that are 'of the land where you live', however, I would also include animals from the lands of my ancestors as well. Let spirit guide you on the list, in the end you will pull one each, of a plant, crystal and animal guide.If there is an interest, and you would like me to repeat the meditation for each season, please let me know in the comments! I did a video on how to set up your own ritual apothecary which I will link both above and below because I do believe it is important to understand that even if you are working with plants for their spiritual and magickal aid, their medical properties do not turn off. There are contra-indicators which can affect medications you are on, pre-existing issues and yes, can even off balance herbal remedies you are taking but canceling it out or making the effects more potent. So before making this or any other remedy seen in books or online, do your own research and consult with your medical doctor. Let set in the fridge for a minimum of 2-3 hours.Body of the Earth: The crumbleSelect or bake a spice cookie, I recommend the one I shared here for the #21daystilyule: youtu.be/6V4UIO-iupQCrumble in a food processor if you have one, I don’t so I placed the cookies in between wax paper, taped up the ends and used a rolling pin! Worked just as well.You will need about 1 cup, though I did have extra.Mix with 3 tbsp melted butter and 2 tbsp brown sugar.I then cooked it on the stove top stirring in that warming earth and enjoying the spicy scents. Let cool completely and break into crumbles resemble the rich soil beneath the snow.Snowy Protection: Coconut Milk Panna CottaOn medium heat bring 13.5 ozs of coconut milk to a simmer, stirring in intention constantly.OPPS: I forget to mention in the video, you will also need to add ½ tsp vanilla extract, sorry :DAdd 1 tbsp maple syrup and stir till dissolved, reduce heat while you prepare the gelatin.Add 2 tbsp boiling water to 1.5 tsp gelatin powder, stir quickly to dissolve and add to the coconut milk on the stove top, again, stirring continuously to ensure the gelatin is both dissolved and fully incorporated. Take off heat and let cool but not harden. You don’t want it steaming hot as it will melt the pomegranate layer.Constructing the Magick:Intentionally add the earth layer, and top with the snowy coconut milk panna cotta.Refrigerate a minimum of 6 hours or over night to be safe. This is always the tricky part for me, so my fingers are crossed for you!Enjoy in ritual space, with focused intentional eating as you take in that magick of possibilities, what ever you decided that should be for you. It generally circulates around the Yule/Winter Solstice and is about whom I refer to as Father Winter, you may know him as Santa Claus!The poem is about a little child who comes home upset because the big kids were telling him Santa isn’t real, and how a good pagan parent, or in my case, Auntie, deals with this. Despite my childhood, or may be because of it, I always believed, and always will, in the Spirit of Father Winter. For my belated Day 11, I prepared a selection of my favourite Shadow or Journey oracle decks. In the video I do a quick walkthrough of the cards as I read a little about each deck from the handbook. At the end of the video I do a three card pull, one from each deck, and read the guidance from the handbook to provide a sample of what to expect. These videos are definitely a labour of love! I initially filmed the raw footage last week before I the flu I was fighting for a few days got worse, but the cards were really out of focus (yes, I am saving up for a decent newer camera ;P), so I refilmed this this week. Total hours for filming, editing, preparing and recording the voiceover script, (not including the 3-4hrs to upload… 21 hours, and totally worth it to give back to those who are supporting my journey here. Just like Hocus Pocus is a staple in the fall, The Santa Clause Movies are in the winter. I love movies that actually take place at the 'North Pole' and feature Father Winter and the magick surrounding his legend. I also love watching The Legend of the Wings, I am a big kid at heart, always will be. For the past several years my favourite Rom-Com has been the Holiday, but not so much because of the romance, more the journey the two lead actress go on. I've spend more than 30 Solstices/Christmases alone, so I really related to that movie. The other two that might surprise you, or not if you know me well, is Surviving Christmas, and Fred Claus. Again, relatable movies for me, :D.There are a few on my list to see still, like the Man Who Invented Christmas. I did purchase it but have yet to see it.
