Somewhat long and long-winded video. Made for boombox owners and owners of this particular unit.
Ideally replacing all of the moving rubber parts (such as old idler rubber) would have been best. For sure all the old belts must be replaced, the head cleaned (with isopropyl alcohol), and demagnetization of the heads/capstan should be done. Often the pressure (pinch) roller needs to be replaced. All hardened grease should be removed and replaced with fresh grease. Oil should be sparingly used. A Sony 6.3 KHz test tape was used for the azimuth adjustment. Overall a huge performance improvement was made with the work I did.
