Five Just Stop Oil protesters interrupted a performance of 'Les Misérables' on October 4 at the Sondheim Theatre in London. The group is demanding the UK government stop licensing new oil and gas projects.
During the scene where the cast sings 'Do You Hear the People Sing?' the protesters got on the stage with banners, locked themselves to the stage, and spoke to the crowd. Audience members booed and shouted at them as theater technicians stopped the show and lowered the curtains.
Audience members were asked to leave the venue and will be offered refunds or tickets to another performance. The police arrested the protesters and charged them with suspicion of aggravated trespass.
Just Stop Oil has staged a number of similar protests across the UK.
