NOTE: Another interesting thing I forgot to mention was that the kids could have hidden in the hotel (credit to Klayton Fioriti for coming up with this!). In contrast to what Klayton said in regards the rotten or spoiled food and bad smell, that is easily solved by cleaning up and throwing it outside as far away as possible to remove the smell and prevent it from attracting animals. In addition, if you were to search the laundry utility rooms within the hotel, you could find a lot of sanitary supplies. And since they were able to restore power later on in the season, they could that way restore power to the refrigerators and hotel kitchens.
