DARTHVR | Jurassic: The Hunted PS3 (2009) 4K full playthrough (blind) - RPCS3 emulator - FPS and dinosaurs @DARTHVRNET | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 10 hours ago.

Full gameplay of the campaign of Jurassic: The Hunted for PlayStation 3, a first-person shooter released in 2009 and developed by Cauldron HQ. I play it on the RPCS3 emulator at 4K (actually a little less, as I comment later) and at 120 fps (although in the video you can only see 60 fps).

Until yesterday before recording this video I had no idea of the existence of this game, until I saw it mentioned on a website, and it caught my attention for being an FPS with dinosaurs, a combination that is always cool (see the Turok saga or Peter Jackson's King Kong). So I was interested in trying it on the PS3 emulator, and after configuring it properly for the game, I started to play it recording a gameplay for the channel, and... I finished it. The campaign lasts what you see, 2 hours, and I haven't been killed once.

No wonder I didn't know of its existence, for two reasons: one is that it didn't come out here in Europe, only in the US, the other is that well, it's a totally forgettable game. It's not that it's terribly bad, you can play it quite well and it doesn't give time to get repetitive (even though it is) since it only lasts 2 hours. The best thing is undoubtedly the theme and the setting. Anyway, when you finish it, a hard mode is unlocked, and it also has a “survivor” mode, which can give you a few more hours, but I don't think many more.

About emulation, these are the only options I have changed from the default settings:

Write color buffers: on (fixes excessive brightness in one of the advanced levels).
Resolution scale: 275% (3520x1980)
VBlank frequency: 120hz

The first level is at 300% resolution scale, which is 4K, from there I had to lower it to 275% because otherwise the game would crash when loading the next levels. But you don't notice that it's a little lower resolution than 4K. About VBlank, by default the game runs at 60 fps, if that value is raised to 120hz, the game runs at 120 fps stable with an i9-13900K and RTX 4090.
