So much to say about this. I saw this back when it first came out and fell in love with it almost immediately from a watching distance. It is undeniably a sick level visually. I love the junkyard theme, I love how alive the level feels, I love the song choice... but I also thought instantly with all of the 2.2 camera movements and whatnot that it wouldn't be a highly enjoyable level to play, so I didn't consider it for a long time. With time, I saw some friends play it, some beat it, and I figured having not beaten a single extreme yet starting with the letter J, that I could at least try this, so last night I did. Initially, it really impressed me. Learning it is relatively difficult, but what I did learn in the first sitting was a total blast. I loved playing from 36% (0:39) and 65% (1:08). The main dual in particular was by far my favorite part of the experience, and one of my favorite parts in anything of this level's difficulty range. Unfortunately the next day came, and with it was time to learn the first third. Of course, I was aware of the randomizer the level has for much of the gameplay early on, but I did not think it would be so bad to get used to. I already wasn't a big fan of a good chunk of the predrop and early drop's gameplay, and to have to adapt to it switching up every attempt made playing from 0% unnecessarily frustrating. It felt so inconsistent to play when it really didn't need to be, and my enjoyment dropped significantly because of it. There are also non-randomized parts in between the randomized stuff like the first wave and the start of the ufo after it that really annoyed me at times, and I was very relieved that I only had to deal with 2 deaths later on in the level. So all in all, this had potential to be an amazing level, potentially one of the best extremes in the game. To some people, it definitely still could be, if you're able to tolerate the randomness gimmick. But for me, it was a somewhat midling experience. One bad third, followed by two amazing thirds, overall makes it an okay level to play. But it's frustrating to me that it wasn't better than this.
