In this video, we build off of the Freud video to look at another influential psychologist, Carl Jung. We discuss his views on the structure of personality and the mind as well as his approach to therapy. As with Freud, I cover the huge problems with the Jungian view, chiefly the metaphysical dependence and unfalsifiable principles.
This isn't as much of a problem with Jung's theory, but there are still some aspects that assume people only come in two genders, and what the goals of those two genders *should* be. I don't know how much is because of the time Jung was doing his research (i.e,. if he'd embrace gender fluidity and non-binary people but that wasn't acceptable at the time), or if he would have stuck to his theory as is and picked that hill to die on. Regardless, I have tried to describe the theory as is/was, but I do not share/endorse these traditional role/gender assignments.
