On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned about their freedom. This day is now known as Juneteenth but has been celebrated under many names such as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Cel-Liberation Day, Second Independence Day, and Emancipation Day.
