Today I finally had two SID 8580 chips installed in my C64 Ultimate setup.
Up until now, all my dual-SID recordings were made for me by Christian Zauner (SID Spieler), and I’ll always be deeply grateful for that support. It made it possible for me to bring my music to life in true dual-SID form long before I had the hardware myself.
Now I can finally play and record everything directly on real hardware on my own setup. That feeling is something completely different — more immediate, more physical, and honestly closer to what this music was always meant to be.
There’s probably no better track to mark this moment than my cover of “JUMP” by Van Halen. It’s been completely remastered and re-recorded using the new dual-SID setup, running through my ZEDI8 mixer for a clean and powerful capture straight from the machine.
This is the beginning of a new chapter for my C64 sound.
