2026 is a very special year for America as it marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed. Independence Day happened to fall on a Saturday, which is a day I normally upload one of my main videos. I needed something 'American' for that very special day, and in terms of ideas, I happened to land on Jump Up, Superstar! from Super Mario Odyssey.
I know the game came out nearly a decade ago. This remix took me six hours to do - I attempted to do a remix of this theme way back in 2018, but never finished it. I still had the MIDI for it, but the difficulty was way too high. Years later, I decided to try again and ultimately succeeded. As the first vocal piece for a mainline Mario game, it was an ambitious achievement for a video game theme song.
These major anniversaries are a once or twice in a lifetime event you'll get to experience, depending on where on America's timeline you were born. This was the case for my parents who were around for both the bicentennial and semiquincentennial anniversaries. I've only gotten to experience the latter so far, and if I make it to 76 in terms of age, I'll be there for the tricentennial event.
