June was another significant month for the UK construction and building safety sector.

Here are six of the biggest themes that shaped industry conversations:

1️⃣ Confidence in the Building Safety Regulator continues to improve, with greater focus on making the system work effectively and ensuring Gateway 3 avoids the challenges seen at Gateway 2.

2️⃣ Project viability remains one of the biggest hurdles, with schemes moving forward only where the financial case makes sense.

3️⃣ Financial pressures continue to build as high interest rates, taxation, rising material costs and wider geopolitical uncertainty impact the supply chain.

4️⃣ The conversation around competence is evolving beyond qualifications, placing greater emphasis on leadership, behaviour, organisational culture and sound decision-making.

5️⃣ With the Part B consultation now closed, attention turns to the Government's response and what it could mean for the industry.

The common thread? The challenge is no longer defining what good looks like—it's creating enough certainty for people to invest, commit and build with confidence.

What stood out to you during June? Is there another trend you think will shape the rest of 2026?
