For those who hasn't watched the show, this is the backstory: Ivan is the rebel son of a rich man who has send him in this boarding school called "Laguna Negra". He might have act like a jerk in the beginning, but then we slowly find out his tragic past. His father was a psychopatic who bought him when he was only a newborn, killed his adoptive mother and beaten him up his whole life. He grew up watching his father being violent with all his partners, until he had the courage to report him. He also killed one of his best friends, Cayetano, which is one of the first character that was reintroduce as ghost into the show, only to tell their friends who was his murderer. Ivan didn't know what love really was, and most of the time he rejected it. Until Julia came in his life. Julia is bold and stubborn. And she has a special gift: she can see dead people. Actually people with unfinished business ask her help so they can finally find peace. That's how we find out Ivan's father was a murderer. But initially, Ivan didn't want to accept the reality and he has a few beef with Julia. Until they started to get along and then falling in love. In the recent revival we find out they wrote a book where they talked about what they went throught during those years, and that now they had a daughter named Carol (presumably in honor of one of their friend who lost her life in that boarding school).
