Well, this video had captions, but Youtube decided to remove this feature in May of 2017. I guess they didn't care that it screwed up millions of videos that relied on them. Hopefully, you will find this video of some use anyway.
Juki G210 straight out of the box I do a retail jeans leg hem test. I use the size 16 needle included with the machine with Medium weight polyester thread in both bobbin and needle.
On my machine the bobbin thread had to be tightened about a half a turn to the right for sewing jeans. From the factory this machine had the loses bobbin tension of any home machine I've tested as of the date of this posting. After the video was completed I tried to increase the bobbin tension enough to prevent it from showing no the top side. I could never get it to do that.
If you buy this machine don't be afraid to tighten the bobbin tension up. I did a test on some thin silk after this test and after setting the needle tension to a lower value it worked out fine. Not everybody buys a machine to hem old Levi jeans. If this is you then you'll be fine with it.
I ended up returning this machine. The lack of being able to tighten the tension enough to sew on denim was too much to overlook. If anyone from Juki is reading this and they feel I had a defective machine then I am all ears. Contact me.
