Jueves, 11 de Marzo is a song from the spanish band "La Oreja de Van Gogh". Thursday, 11 of March - band "The Ear of Van Gogh".
10 years ago, during my musical studies, I lived in Madrid for one year. Listening to the local radio there I became aware of this band. Then I discovered their song "Jueves". I asked my good spanish friend, also classical guitarist if she knew about "La Oreja de Van Gogh" and their song "Jueves"?
She looked at me - I remember exactly here face - and she said that this was the song about the sad happening that happened some years ago in Madrid, Atocha. I had not known anything about this attack, I just had been cought by the song and melody so much. After knowing the meaning of this very special song, it becomes even more special. I sang this song during all the past 10 years and finally when I realized that this year again we find the date 11 of March on a Thursday, I decided to record it.

Vor ca. 10 Jahren habe ich, im Rahmen meines Musikstudiums, in Madrid gelebt. Als ich dort den lokalen Radiosender hörte, fiel mir diese Gruppe auf. Dann habe ich dieses Lied "Jueves" entdeckt. Ich habe meine gute spanische Freundin, auch klassische Gitarristin nach dem Lied gefragt. Ich kann mich sehr genau an ihren Gesichtsausdruck erinnern und sie sagte, dass das das Lied der tragischen Ereignisse vor ein paar Jahren in Madrid sei. Ich hatte nichts von dem Attentat am Bahnhof Atocha zuvor gewusst, ich war einfach gefesselt von diesem Lied und seiner Melodie. Mit dem Wissen um die Entstehung bekommt dieses Lied eine noch besonderere Bedeutung.
Ich habe dieses Lied all die Jahre hindurch gespielt und gesungen, und als ich bemerkte, dass dieses Jahr das Datum 11. März auf einen Donnerstag fällt, habe ich beschlossen, eine Aufnahme davon zu machen.
