Judy Garland made her debut at the age of only three together with her older sisters, with whom she performed as the "Gumm Sisters". She was born into a family of actors.
Louis B. Mayer of MGM promoted her alongside Elisabeth Taylor, among others. This is how Judy Garland became a child star in "The Wizard of Oz". Judy Garland met Vincente Minnelli, who himself came from an acting family, during the shooting of "Meet Me in St. Louis".
While Judy Garland wanted to escape the pressure of the studio and was looking for a new promoter, Vincente Minnelli, on the other hand, was looking for a new muse. The initial father-daughter relationship changed into a love affair and the two married in 1945. In 1946, their daughter Liza Minnelli was born.
Together they realised the musical "Broadway Melody" ("Ziegfeld Follies") and were subsequently called the "royal family of musical comedy in Hollywood". However, when Judy discovered that Vincente was having an affair with the family chauffeur, their relationship ended. Nevertheless, they remained lifelong friends.
