"When we practice joy in the midst of injustice, we're not ignoring the injustice. We're prophesying its end. When we celebrate a new life even as other lives pass on—that's not disrespecting the dead; that's honoring them by insisting that death doesn't get the final word. When we mark milestones in our lives even as so much around us burns—that's not being naive. That's practicing resurrection.
Joy doesn't erase grief. Joy doesn't minimize suffering. Joy doesn't pretend the darkness isn't real. But joy insists that God of life and goodness is coming with justice and salvation."
