A connectome (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connectome) refers to a wiring diagram of a nervous system. Great interest is now being placed in assembling connectomes through projects like +EyeWire , and the Human Connectome project (humanconnectomeproject.org/). Come join us to meet the father of the original connectome, Dr. John White, first author of the original 1986 C. Elegans connectome paper that launched the connectomics movement!

This will be presented as a live journal club, streamed via YouTube via Hangouts On Air. The journal club will begin with an guided tour of the 1986 paper presented by +Stephen Larson. Our panel will be present to discuss and add context. Our guest of honor, Dr. John White will be in the hangout to answer your questions about the first connectome, how it was done, and why it was important to get it. Your questions can be submitted via G+ comments during the session.

Get the paper: the paper has been made into a website, available online here: http://www.wormatlas.org/ver1/MoW_bui...
